OUR MISSION
LDAPEI empowers people with learning disabilities to unlock their full potential and fosters inclusivity in the community to create equitable access to opportunities by providing academic and workplace supports.
The Learning Disabilities Association of PEI came into being when a group of parents met to share their common concerns about learning disabilities in the early 70s. In November 1975, the Prince Edward Island Association for Children with Learning Disabilities was incorporated. In July 2003 the Learning Disabilities Association of PEI was incorporated as a registered not-for-profit member charitable organization.
The Learning Disabilities Association of PEI is delighted to announce that the Honorable Dr. Wassim Salamoun, O.P.E.I., Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island has graciously granted vice-regal patronage to our association and is officially our Honorary Patron for the duration of his term in office.
As outlined in his acceptance letter His Honour believes “One of the most important contributions we can make is to ensure the health and well-being of our children, in fact all citizens, and to ensure they have the highest standards of supports possible”. This continued commitment to supporting Islanders aligns perfectly with LDAPEI’s Mission.
LDAPEI looks forward to future occasions whereby our relationship continues to help Islanders with disabilities.
